Lately we've had a lot of people who can't use their own cards ask if they can either use their child's card to take out items, or get a card for their child (for this purpose), and the answer is NO. Naturally, this doesn't make people happy.
Below is the Overdue Policy. It is printed out and available for handout at the circ desk. If someone gives you a hard time, please have them deal with me.

Overdue Fine Limits
If you have more than $25 in fines and/or item
replacement costs on your card, you will not be allowed to borrow any additional materials until fines/fees have been addressed and the total drops below $25.
Replacement fees will be waived if the item(s) is
returned in good condition, and only the overdue fine will be charged. Overdue fines can be paid over time.
Common Question:
Can I take out materials on my child’s card if my card is blocked because of fines/fees?
Answer:
No. Children under 13 require a parent’s signature to get a library card, as they are not old enough to assume true responsibility for the use of a card. As the parent, you are responsible for your child’s card usage, and any fines/fees they might incur. If you have not been able to keep your own card in good standing, you cannot use your child’s card as a back-up.
