Dear CLAMS Library Directors,
Optima Shipping is excited to announce that they are ready to roll out the
Sort to Light technology to the entire CLAMS network. Over the past several
weeks they have successfully started using the Sort to Light technology with
eight libraries within the network and are ready to roll it out to everyone.
What this means is that beginning Monday, March 5 you can place any barcoded items into delivery without a delivery slip.
Anything that does not have a barcode on the upper left hand corner of the front or back cover or anything for the Virtual Catalogue still needs to use a slip. If you have any
questions or are experiencing any difficulties during the start up, please
contact Erin Wilcox, the General Manager at Optima Shipping. She can be
reached by emailing ewilcox@shipoptima.com or calling 781-569-0201.
Also, for those libraries that were in the first phase of implementation,
you can stop putting the books into the bins upside down. Optima tested the
efficiency of this and it did not turn out to be beneficial to Optima’s sort
functions.
Thanks,
Gayle
I can imagine that this is going to take a little getting used to, but once we get the hang of it, I think it will speed things up tremendously (especially in the summer).
