- -Put no symbols in the address field - should be a space between town state and zip (5 Hall Street) (Dennisport MA 02639)
- -Permanent address goes in address1 field (make sure this is a mail address as well)
- -Please.... Remember to add your initials when setting up a new card (i.e. DPL/jr)
- -And, if your time allots ~ Please go back and add additional info (i.e. 2nd address, additional phone number, etc) This helps those of us who have to call/collect fees to have all info available in Millenium.
Kathy - please correct me if the above rules have changed at all, as I am quoting from the most recent information I have on this.
Thank you!
Julie

The initials should read dp/xx ie. dp/lc. Millennium is set so it prompts dp/ . We are seeing that this is being overrode and no initials are used at all.
We also discussed adding the date of birth. There a field for this. It will help w/patrons claiming duplicates are not them. This was discussed at CLAMS Bib and Pub Serve meetings.
Thanks,
Lisa
Hi,
Adding the birthday to all new cards is going to really help all the libraries going forward with helping to identify patrons and avoid problems. We can add it to the main screen where the rest of the patron codes are located. There is a place for birthdays and Julie has already added this to the forms we give the patrons to fill out.
When we are replacing a lost card we need to really look at the patron record. Change the record information to match our library code/patron type/registration qualifier. There are now hundreds of Dennis library cards that have a Dennis barcode with incorrect information. There is no way to know where these cards were issued from.
The new self registration cards also need to be updated when the patron comes in. Take out the old barcode number when you add the new one.
Also, sign any message you put on a card. Pop up messages only show up when you scan the card. Messages like, "call when call book comes in," will never be seen by the people checking in the books from the bins.
Thanks,
Kathy
Thanks Lisa and Kathy ~
A footnote on replacing lost cards - please make sure they show ID.
