1. Patrons are now able to renew Items three times.
2. Damaged items or items missing parts should not be sent in circulation.
3. Appropriate use of field notes and pop messages were discussed. Inappropriate messages are popping up on patron records. Nothing subjective should ever be placed in a pop up note. Once a message is delivered to a patron the message needs to be removed from the record. Always sign and date a message. There is a motion to put through to membership that any message not signed using standard clams initials should be deleted. Standard initials for clams are the initials of both the library and the staff member who is writing the message. For example mine would be kp/dpl and then the date.
4. Guide lines of how to handle missing items that belong to another library were also gone over. We can hold on to another libraries item for up to a month. We need to make every effort to get the item back. If we still are unable to get the item, we need to call the library, fill out a repair slip (which we already use), and send it back.
5. Item level holds are being placed on records that do not require it. This has recently come up at our library. Item level holds are only placed on items requiring certain volumes or specific issues. Item level holds are placed when selecting a certain month of a magazine, a certain disc of a movie, or a certain addition/year of a travel book. I would be happy to go over holds if anyone has any questions.
Reminder:
1. Surprise! Surprise! Rubber Band Media! Also, continue to place DVD Series in padded envelopes or cover the barcode with the transit slip.
2. Do not clear the item levels holds paging list after printing. This will keep them on our list until we either find the item or mark it missing.
3. Email any problems or questions to problems@clamsnet.org. This includes after we use millennium offline. We no longer need to place a call before we upload data. We can simply notify them by email.
Thanks,
Kathy
