Requests for vacation time to be taken between July 1st and October 15th should be in to me by May 15. Requests received after that date may still be considered, but they will be prioritized after the requests received by May 15.
From now on (and especially in summer), "adequate coverage" will NOT guarantee a requested day off. In my attempt to be as accommodating as possible, I have created a situation where time off has become an expectation as long as we have bodies. With the anticipated change in hours, schedules, and staffing, "enough bodies" may not be an automatic yes to a time off request. Please bear in mind that everyone has a specific function in the library during their shift, and that everyone is scheduled based on the projected needs of that shift.
