Hello All,
I attended training today for the new Commonwealth Catalog system for inter library loans. Commonwealth Catalog replaces the old Virtual Catalog system, which patrons have not been able to use for the past several months. The new system should be up and running for patrons around April 1st. At this time, one major difference will be that, when a patron checks out an item at the Circulation Desk, the Circulation staff should not scan the item's barcode. The system will use an identifying ILL # as the "barcode" in Sierra. This number may be written by hand on the item's band or, if we're really lucky, they are currently working on applying a barcode to the processing labels. It may also be a possibility that the "barcode" can be copied and pasted from the patron's record into the check out field. We will know more as the date gets closer, but I just wanted to apprise everyone of the situation. Please let me know if you have any questions.
Cindy
